An Interstellar Sonnet

This journey, which I make across the stars,
Has so far yielded little true reward,
Besides the sights of younger worlds than ours,
Engulfed in seas and forests unexplored,

What once were so untouchable and grand –
The faraway phenomena of space,
Ethereal, divine – are now at hand,
And grasped am I in nature’s full embrace,

I see, through mists of multispectral light,
Enlivened by a supernova’s glow,
A godly palace, gleaming ultra-bright,
A splendid, dazzling interstellar show,

Though stunned, I shut my eyes to block the view,
And choose instead to watch a thought of you.
